What is STAC?
STAC is a specification for geospatial metadata. It is a community-driven project to standardize the way geospatial data is described and accessed.
What problems does STAC solve?

What about extensions?

The Geoportal currently uses/supports the following extensions:

| STAC Moving Features | Provides fields to describe moving features. |
| STAC Processing | Indicates from which processing chain data originates and how the data itself has been produced. |
| STAC Projection | Provides a way to describe Items whose assets are in a geospatial projection. |
| STAC Timestamps | Allows to specify numerous additional timestamps for assets and metadata. |
| STAC Versioning Indicators | Provides fields and link relation types to provide a version and indicate deprecation. |
